DNS Lookup does not collect, sell or share any personal data.
What the extension does with data
- Current tab address: When you click the extension icon, it reads the hostname of the active tab through Chrome's
activeTabpermission. It uses the hostname only to fill in the lookup box. - DNS queries: The domain name or IP address you look up is sent to the public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver you choose, either Cloudflare (
cloudflare-dns.com) or Google (dns.google), to get its DNS records. No cookies or identifiers are sent with the query. Each provider's own privacy policy applies: - Local storage: Your chosen resolver and record type, plus your last 8 lookups, are saved with
chrome.storage.localon your device only. They are never sent anywhere. Uninstalling the extension deletes them.
What the extension does not do
- It has no analytics, tracking or advertising.
- It does not read page content, your browsing history or cookies.
- It does not load or run code from the internet.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
